100 Meter Long Photograph → simonhoegsberg.com

First thing I noticed: It’s Berlin, so there are plenty of earphones but none of the white Apple ones ubiquitous in New York.

Second thing I noticed: One guy has apparently figured he is being photographed and doesn’t like it; he’s subtly giving the photographer the finger.

Transatlanticism - Death Cab for Cutie

I remember once, three years ago, listening to this song while sitting in the library and working on my thesis.  I looked out the window, and it was snowing.  And I thought it was the most perfect thing ever.

First heard it on Six Feet Under; similar reaction.

Number of members of the rock band Anthrax who said they hoarded Cipro so as to avoid an “ironic death”: 1

Amazing how one statistic can sum up a period of cultural history.

From the TV show The Prisoner: “I am not a number, I am a free man.”

Sad to see the news that Patrick McGoohan — the British actor who created the strange and wonderful and difficult to describe series The Prisoner — has died. If you’ve never seen it, it’s best not to say too much. The episode “The Chimes Of Big Ben,” is perhaps the best stand-alone piece of the series, as good as any place to start. Very ’60s, but if you can get past that, so good.
