I’m still trying to get my ban lifted from r/funny. I’m not having much luck. This is usually the point in the conversation when they stop talking to me. I realize I played on sympathy here, but I thought maybe showing a little humanity might inspire leniency. They are so eager to ban people who don’t fit this 10% criteria and yet they do not care that many bloggers like myself are being screwed by these imgur addicts thieving our material for their karma. And then reddit die-hards come to our sites and accuse us of stealing our own content from reddit. Is this worth all the hassle? Sometimes I think not, but then I see my bank balance at the end of the month and it’s hard not to get frustrated all over again.
It’s a bizarre and unfortunate policy that Reddit has. Or seems to have — their community guidelines are far from clear. Odd that your occasional post, albeit self-promotional, is somehow considered worse for the overall Reddit community than Kylde’s stream: http://www.reddit.com/user/Kylde
I don’t quite get how posting 8 links in an hour to report the spammers is considered more valuable than putting up links to content you created and want to share.
