I know a computer can’t make a writer but I think it makes a writer better. Simplicity in writing and simplicity in getting it down, hot and real. When this computer is in the shop and I go back to the electric, it’s like trying to break rock with a hammer. Of course, the essence of writing is there but you have to wait on it, it doesn’t leap from the gut as quickly, you begin to trail your thoughts — your thoughts are ahead of your fingers which are trying to catch up. It causes a block of sorts indeed.”

i did not like this movie. to be fair, i could tell partway through the opening credits - filled with slow mo zombie attacks focusing more on gross out gore than actual scariness - that i wasn’t going to like it. and turns out i was right!

it’s a short movie, 1h20, but i think a good 50 or so of those minutes could have been removed without any noticable harm. i’m pretty good at filling in the cliched story lines by myself (spoiler: the only non-zombie characters hang out together! after the meet cute, love may blossom! etc.). by the time we got to the exciting finale set piece with zombies overrunning an abandoned amusement park, i hated the movie and the character so much i just wanted him to save the lady already so i could leave.

the surprise cameo is fantastic. so rent it and fast forward to that part.

The trailer for the heart-wrenching documentary, “Dear Zachary,” made my hair stand on end.

I’ve heard incredible things about this documentary. Many critics thought this film deserved an Oscar nomination this year. If you have Netflix you can watch instantly - I know I’m planning to very soon. (via:brieflynoted:noraleah:)

I’ve been meaning to watch this and today’s reblogs both reminded me about it and alerted me to its presence on Netflix Instant. I’m so glad they did; it’s brilliantly edited, and much beyond that a very moving, very human documentary. And gut achingly sad.
